Jailbreak and unlock. What is the difference?

Although very often we hear the word “unlock” (“unlock”) and “jailbreak” together in the same context, they are not identical. These concepts are interrelated in that they give users more control over their gadget, be it an iPhone, iPod touch or iPad. However, as a matter of fact, these are different things. So, what’s the difference between unlocking and jail-breaking Phone?

The short answer is that the jailbreak allows you to install on your iPhone (or other iOS device) any software at your requestand unlock gives you the opportunity to choose a mobile operator, which will work your gadget.

Jailbreak and unlock by default Apple tightly controls what software can be installed on an iOS device it produced.Approved applications are available exclusively through the official App Store. At the same time, there is a huge amount ofthird-party programs that the user would like to have in your gadget. But they are not available in the App Store because Apple rejects them for various reasons (breach of the terms of service, competition with proprietary products, poor-quality code, security issues, etc.).

Jailbreak-operation, allowing to remove those restrictions and get a chance to install any program and access to othershopping applications (for example, Cydia is a leading shop, an alternative App Store). Carried out jailbreak using special utilities that can be easily found on the net.

Another limitation that Apple introduces iPhone and 3 g versions of the iPad — from working with only one mobile operator. For example, in the United States iPhone has officially sold and supported only the telecommunications company AT&T. Unlocking allows you to change the operator of your choice.

Previously, however, you need to find out if your iPhone with selected mobile operator, and provides appropriate supportthis operator. On unlocked iPhone you will not be able to fully use those services provided by the official operator (for example, such a wonderful thing as Visual Voicemail-Visual voice mail). But, on the other hand, unlocked iPhone will give you more freedom of choice and, most likely, you will pay less for the services provided by the operator, or get better coverage.

So, although the unlock and jailbreak are not one and the same, the result of their application is similar-to receive the user more control over your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
