Having surprised the public the Pangu team released iOS 8 and 8.1 jailbreak just yesterday. From this article you have a chance learn how to jailbreak iOS 8.1 with Cydia.
But before proceeding please read these important notes:
A Mac version hasn’t been launched by Pangu team yet. That’s why this instruction is only for Windows users.
Pangu jailbreak for iOS 8 and iOS 8.1 is untethered.
Pangu does not install Cydia by default. But Cydia for iOS 8 and iOS 8.1 is released. Below we will report how to install Cydia after Jailbreak the iOS 8 and 8.1.
Devices that support the iOS 8 and iOS 8.1:
- iPhone 6
- iPhone 6 Plus
- iPhone 5s
- iPhone 5c
- iPhone 5
- iPhone 4s
- iPad (2, 3, 4, Air, Air 2, mini 1, mini 2, mini 3)
- iPod touch 5
Go Settings -> General -> Passcode Lock On -> Turn Passcode Off or the jailbreak may not worry.
How to jailbreak iOS 8 and iOS 8.1 using Pangu
Note: Before proceeding, using iTunes, take a backup of iDevice. Make sure your iTunes is updated to the latest version.
Step 1: Download Pangu for Windows from this site.
Step 2: On the Pangu icon tap on the right and after tap on Run as Administrator.
Step 3: Using USB connect your iDevice to PC when Pangu is running.
Step 4: Click on the checkbox that says PP to uncheck it.
Step 5: In the middle of the screen tap on the big blue button to start the jailbreak process. Be patient because during the process your iDevice will reboot few times.
Step 6: When the jailbreak will be completed, a new Pangu icon will appear on home screen of your iDevice. It means that the jailbreak was successfully done.
The next step is install Cydia on iOS 8 and iOS 8.1 after using Pangu Jailbreak.
Step 1. If your iDevice is jailbroken go into the Pangu App
Step 2. Download and install OpenSSH
Step 4. After saving, download an SSH client like Cyberduck 2 (Mac), WinSCP (Windows). In this instruction we will use FileZilla and Terminal on the Mac and will explain how to use them both. The steps will be similar, if you use other software.
Step 5.Then go Settings on your iDevice and tap on “WiFi”. To learn what your IP address is tap on the “i”. Keep this screen we will back to it .
Step 6. Open FileZilla. Fill in this information at the top:
- Host: The IP address from your iPhone
- Username: root
- Password: alpine
- Port: 21 or 22, one of them will work.
Step 7. Tap on the folder named “var” to expand it. Scroll down to “root” and expand it. Find a “Media” folder. Open it and create a new “Cydia” folder. Open Cydia and create and open another folder “AutoInstall”. Here you should put your deb files. Wait till deb files will transfer. The work with FileZilla is finished.
Step 8. Work with Terminal program. Open it in Spotlight.
Here we will SSH into your iPhone, so you’ll need your IP address again. So type this:
- “ssh [email protected] and push enter.
- Password: “alpine”
Step 9. When you are logged in, go to the folder where the deb files is. Then type this:
and push enter.
We can install the deb files because we’re in the folder. Type this:
dpkg –install cydia-lproj_1.1.12_iphoneos-arm.deb cydia_1.1.13_iphoneos-arm.deb
and push enter. This should install the debs files. The work is completed.
Step 10. Please reboot your phone and Cydia should be on your phone.
